Codes
As an ICC Chapter, Code Enforcement Officials of Southern Illinois (CEOSI) actively promotes the I-Code family of codes. Member communities adopt the codes which they will enforce by ordinance; however in some cases the prevailing code may be mandated by the State of Illinois.
State codes may include the Illinois State Plumbing Code and a specific version of the ICC Energy Efficiency Code.
The currently adopted versions of our past and present member communities ICC Building, Fire and Property Maintenance are listed below. Please see the link below for all ICC codes adopted by our member communities. Please check with each individual community for Local amendments to the code when adopted such as climatology and seismic designations.

Code Committee
The Building Codes Committee was formed to analyze code changes as they occur in each three-year cycle. It is the goal of CEOSI to promote the most uniform code adoption and enforcement among our member communities. Given the vast geographic area represented, it is unrealistic to expect that all member communities will adopt the same edition of the code at the same time; however, enforcement practices, department policies, and code interpretations should, for the benefit of the contractor and design communities, be as consistent as practicable. Code issues examined by the Building Codes Committee will be taken to membership on a regular basis for discussion and, as needed, be clarified by the creation of "white papers" or illustrated handouts .
